Better Woodlands for Wales
Miller Land Management have been trained and approved as management planners under the Better Woodlands for Wales (BWW) scheme.
BWW is the new Forestry Commission Wales (FCW) grant scheme for creating and improving woodlands. It is tailor-made for Welsh woodlands and replaces the previous Woodland Grant Scheme (WGS).
BWW is an integrated scheme, with a single application process fulfilling a variety of purposes. Anyone wishing to enter the scheme will be given access to professional help from woodland managers who will be able to provide good advice about the scheme and prepare a management plan on behalf of the owner.
An important feature of the scheme is that FCW provides funding for the production of woodland management plans. In the majority of cases, this grant should cover our costs for producing the plan, and therefore the plan can be drawn up at little or no cost to the landowner. The finished plan can then be used to draw down further funding for a very wide range of approved operations within the woodland.
However, BWW is intended to be much more than a package of grants for woodland management: it is a framework of support that will assist owners in meeting the challenges associated with creating and managing sustainable woodlands in the 21st century.
